I offer outdoor play classes following the Tinkergarten curriculum to children ages 18 months to 6 years and their grownups in the south san jose (Almaden) area!

We meet weekly, and I guide families through songs, movement, exploration and purposeful play

This SUMMER, our curriculum is designed to help each child strengthen and balance their senses in the most stimulating and soothing classroom of all—the great outdoors.

REGISTRATION WILL OPEN IN NOVEMBER

Each Acorn Acres season is made up of a series of 6-9 one hour long classes in the Winter, Spring, ​Summer & Fall, or 3 one hour classes in early December.

For a 9 week session, cost is $225 + $5 for an end of season badge ($230 total) for the first student, ​25% discount for the first sibling, and 50% for the second sibling. Badge cost is not included in the ​discount.

For a 6 week session, cost is $150 + $5 for an end of season badge ($155 total) for the first student, and ​has the same sibling discounts as the 9 week seasons. Badge cost is not included in the discount.

For a 3 week session, cost is $75 with NO end of season badge ($75 total) for the first student, and has ​the same sibling discounts as the 9 week seasons.

I now offer a Drop-In class option for those who cannot commit to the entire session. Please see the ​registration form for prices.

If you join after the season has started, the cost will be prorated. Missed classes are non-refundable.

Trail Classes are offered to first time families only (1 trail class per family).

Hi! I'm Jen! I'm a mom of three teenagers / young adult (14.17.19) and we LOVE living on Acorn Acres!

I grew up in Foster City, CA and have called San Jose my home for over 20 years. I have a background in Early Childhood Education and joyfully enjoyed my days as a ​Preschool Teacher. Now that my kids are grown, I've jumped back into my passion of teaching young explorers. In 2019 I became a Tinkergarten teacher, which has been a ​natural progression where I can help young minds explore the outdoors in a safe, curious way. When we learn and play together outside, we build a community, foster ​relationships, and get to enjoy our amazing world together. I hope you will come explore with us!

What is Tinkergarten?

Tinkergarten helps families get outside to make the most of their kids’ early learning years. For over a decade, their education experts have designed play-based outdoor curriculum that guides parents in raising healthy, confident, and capable kids. Acorn Acres proudly uses Tinkergarten curriculum.

What ages does the program serve?

The program is designed for children ages 18 months-6 years

Children younger and older than that age range are welcome to enroll and families are encouraged to try a free class to see if it is a good fit for their explorer.

Can siblings come for free?

Siblings under 18 months of age may join at no cost. Siblings over 18 months should enroll in the class, and a 25% sibling discount is available.

If a sibling needs to attend due to scheduling change (eg. day off at school), they can attend up to two sessions without enrolling. Families are asked to notify the teacher if an extra child needs to attend for a session so they can prepare any necessary materials.

Can families try a class for free before enrolling in the program?

New Families are invited to attend one trial class for a non-refundable fee of $25 to try Acorn Acres.

Are refunds offered?

If a refund is requested BEFORE the season of classes begins, families can receive a full refund or credit towards a future class.

If a refund is requested AFTER the season of classes begins, families can receive a refund for half of the value of the remaining sessions in the season. Refunds will be processed in the same form your original registration was paid.

Are credits or refunds offered for missed sessions?

Credits and refunds are not offered for classes missed by families. If the teacher needs to cancel a class due to illness or weather, the missed class will be rescheduled.

What happens in inclement weather?

Decisions about whether it is safe to hold class are determined by the teacher using local weather guidance.

The teacher will update families at least 60 minutes prior to class by email and text message. Whenever possible, the session will be offered at another time the same week or will be added to the end of the season.
